Weekend Box Office Numbers (April 9-11, 2010): ‘Clash’ ($26.6M) holds onto 1st; Date Night ($25.2M) and ‘Dragon’ ($24.9M) finish 2nd and 3rd

The preliminary numbers had Date Night opening in 1st place ahead of Clash of the Titans, but the studios over-estimated most films grosses and Clash of the Titans ultimately won out with a $26.633 million 2nd weekend ($110.226 million cume). Date Night grossed a respectable $25.208 million followed by How to Train Your Dragon in 3rd which dropped only 14.3% with a solid $24.863 million ($133.404 million).

Note: The original weekend estimates were $27.1M for “Date Night”, $26.875M for “Clash of the Titans” and $25.35M for “How to Train Your Dragon”.

The only other new wide-release this weekend was Vivendi’s Letters to God, which opened in a weak 10th place with just $1.101 million from 897 theaters (studio estimates). Rounding out the top five were Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too? in fourth place with $11.017 million ($48.537 million cume) and The Last Song in fifth place with $9.832 million ($42.255 million cume).
