Preacher producer Neal Mortiz revealed that that director Sam Mendes is off the project (due to his commitment with the next “James Bond” film) and they’re currently talking to a new director (but he wouldn’t say who). Moritz also noted that he expects the film to start shooting sometime in 2011 and that it will definitely be rated R.
Moritz also offered an update on the Escape from New York remake, revealing that the script is complete and they’re currently out to various directors whom they’ve had interviews with. He says they’ve also had a few meetings with a couple actors, but nothing is in place yet (and likely won’t be until a director is attached). And lastly, he’s not as definitive on the R-rating as he is with Preacher, but thinks it’ll be rated R.
