Marvel Studios made an offer to Emily Blunt to play Peggy Carter in Joe Johnston’s The First Avenger: Captain America, but the LA Times reports that the actress has officially passed on the role.
A few weeks ago Mike Fleming of Deadline New York reported that the studio had begun testing leads for the role, with Keira Knightley, Alice Eve and Emily Blunt all under consideration. It’s unclear if Marvel will now make an offer to Knightley or Eve.
The First Avenger: Captain America begins filming this month in the U.K. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 22, 2011.
