Weekend Box Office Numbers (March 19-21, 2010): Alice ($34.2M) still first; Solid debut for ‘Wimpy Kid’ ($22.1M), Bounty Hunter ($20.7M) finishes 3rd and Repo Men ($6.1M) disappoints

Update: Article updated on 3/22/2010 with final actual numbers.

Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland stayed strong in its third weekend, dropping 45.5% to $34.19M ($265.434M domestic cume), easily holding off three new releases.  Alice in Wonderland is now director Tim Burton’s highest grossing film of his career (eclipsing 1989’s “Batman” which grossed $251.19M).  Adding in overseas estimates of $300M and ‘Alice’ is at an impressive $565.4M worldwide.

Leading the field of new releases was 20th Century Fox’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid ($22.126M) which edged Sony’s The Bounty Hunter ($20.686M).  Both films debuted well ahead of Universal’s Repo Men which flopped in fourth place with just $6.127 million. Head on over the jump for the weekend chart.
