Earlier in the season NBC renewed Parks and Recreation for a third season and now the network has handed out new season pickups to the other three Thursday night comedies: freshman comedy Community and vets The Office and 30 Rock:
“We are happy to give these early pickups to these critically acclaimed, incredibly funny comedies,” said NBC primetime entertainment prexy Angela Bromstad. “As a result, we look forward to continuing our rewarding partnership with the respective creative teams and talented show-runners for ’30 Rock,’ ‘The Office’ and ‘Community’ as they all consistently deliver quality shows.”
Renewals for The Office (averaging a 4.9 A18-49 rating and 9.4M viewers) and 30 Rock (3.4 A18-49 rating and 6.9M viewers) aren’t surprising, but Community (2.7 A18-49 rating and 5.9M viewers) was less of a sure thing. However its chances improved in recent weeks thanks to steady ratings and a fair amount of critical praise.
