Monday Box Office (March 1, 2010): Shutter Island 1st ($1.8M); Cop Out ($1.3M), The Crazies ($1.3M) & Avatar ($1.3M) close behind

Shutter Island grossed $1.775 million ($77.316M domestic cume) from 3,003 theaters on Monday to stave off three close challengers. The race for second was narrowly won by Cop Out, which grossed $1.288 million ($19.5M domestic cume).  Meanwhile the third and fourth place films were separated by just $256 (yes that’s right, less than 300 dollars), with The Crazies ($1,258,933 / $17.326M domestic cume) finishing just ahead of Avatar ($1,258,677 / $707.819M domestic cume).

Fifth place was rounded out by Valentine’s Day which passed the $100M mark with $509,256 ($100.426M domestic cume). Head on over the jump to see the daily chart.
