Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood is reporting what has been rumored for months, that Summit Entertainment will split Stephanie Meyer’s final Twilight book ‘Breaking Dawn’ into two films that will begin shooting back-to-back in mid-October. Finke calls her report “definitive” and adds that Summit Entertainment is looking at “high-end” directors. Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg (who has written all the Twilight saga films thus far) is currently adapting ‘Breaking Dawn’.
When asked for comment, Summit Entertainment told ComingSoon.net that no decision has been made: “No decision has been made and as we have said all along we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring ‘Breaking Dawn’ to the big screen.”
The next film in the series, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, will hit theaters on June 30, 2010.
