Joe Johnston Talks Captain America

While doing the rounds promoting his latest film The Wolfman (out in theaters this weekend), director Joe Johnston talked about his next film, The First Avenger: Captain America.  Head on over the jump to read some excerpts of what he had to say about the film, including a confirmation about the villain.

  • An American will definitely be cast in the lead role (and he’ll be an unknown).
  • He has tested “five or six guys”, with the youngest being 23 and the oldest 32.
  • Casting will be done by March 1st.
  • The film will be shot with HD cameras.  If it’s released in 3D, it’ll be converted in post-production.
  • Red Skull has been confirmed as the villain (for details on Red Skull head here).

Be sure to head on over to the source links below for more details.

The First Avenger: Captain America is scheduled to hit theaters on July 22, 2011.
