Avatar grossed $2.648 million on Wednesday, its 48th consecutive day above $2.5 million. Domestically, the James Cameron 3D sci-fi epic stands at $603.789 million. Finishing in second place for the day was Edge of Darkness with $1.112 million (domestic cume of $21.029 million), followed by When in Rome in third place with $706,772 (domesic cume of $14.708 million).
Also of note, Sherlock Holmes continues to close in on $200 million domestic and will cross $400 million worldwide by the end of the weekend ($198.621 million domestic cume / $395.621 million). It was eighth place on Wednesday with $335,110.
