Avatar had the best hold on Wednesday, grossing $3.138 million, or down just 1.9% from Tuesday (and only 17.3% from last Wednesday). Domestic cume for the worldwide all-time #1, is now $561.317 million. Worldwide the film has flown by Titanic and will pass $1.9B sometime today (current worldwide cume is $1.897 billion). Finishing in second place for the day was The Book of Eli with $1.114 million. The Hughes brothers-directed feature starring Denzel Washington has shown solid weekday performances and is now at $64.481 million domestically (and an estimated $74.481 million worldwide).
Third place for the day went to Legion with $954,505, which has reached the $20M mark domestically ($20.929 million cume and an estimated $22.029 million worldwide). That’s an acceptable performance for the $26M-budged horror flick. The daily chart for Wednesday follows below.
