The series premiere of the Starz original series Spartacus: Blood and Sand got off to an impressive start for the pay-cable network on Friday night. The drama — which Starz renewed for a 2nd season even before its first debuted — pulled in 659,000 viewers (and a 0.3/1 A18-49 rating/share) on Starz with another 578,000 viewers (and a 0.2/1 A18-49 rating/share) tuning into its simulcast on Encore.
Although not impressive per say based on ratings on other networks, it’s easily a new high for Starz, which is relatively new to original series programming. Between its two 10:00 p.m. airings on Starz and Encore, the show drew 1.237 million viewers and a 0.5 A18-49 rating.
Spartacus: Blood and Sand airs Friday nights at 10:00 p.m. on Starz.
