Thursday Box Office (1/21/2010)

Avatar grossed $3.945 million on Thursday, an increase of about 4% from the day prior and only -16% below what it did last Thursday (which was better, in terms of percentage hold, from last week’s Thursday-to-Thursday performance). Through 35 days, Avatar stands at $516.797M domestically.  The film will pass The Dark Knight‘s domestic haul ($533.345M) on Saturday. More analysis, including worldwide numbers and the daily chart, after the jump.

Overseas, Avatar stands at a remarkable $1.173 billion, pushing its worldwide cume to $1.69 billion, or just about $153 million away from Titanic‘s $1.843B record (a record which will fall sometime next week).
