TMZ is reporting that Jay Leno has signed a new deal with NBC and will return as host of The Tonight Show airing from 11:35-12:35 a.m., which means Conan O’Brien is out:
As we first reported, under the contract Jay had been working under, he was guaranteed the 10 PM hour. By moving him to 11:35, NBC was in breach of his contract and needed to negotiate a new deal. That is now done, sources tell TMZ.
Additionally, sources close to Conan O’Brien tell People that the current host of The Tonight Show doesn’t plan to do any more shows past next Friday, January 22nd:
“Conan does not currently plan on doing any more new shows after next week,” says the source.
NBC had planned a hiatus, beginning on the week of January 25th, for several months.
