Peter Sarsgaard is in negotations to play Dr. Hector Hammond, the main villain in Warner Brothers’ Martin Campbell-directed feature Green Lantern.
Hammond is described as “the pathologist son of a senator who is seen as a disappointment in his father’s eyes. He becomes infused with psychic powers when he discovers a meteor.” Sarsgaard would join Blake Lively who was recently cast as Carol Ferris, love interest to Hal Jordan/Green Lantern (played by Ryan Reynolds).
Green Lantern recently received a green light by WB and is expected to begin production sometime in March. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 17, 2011.
