Producers of the hit ABC drama LOST have revealed that Harold Perrineau (“Michael”) and Cynthia Watros (“Libby”) will return for the show’s sixth and final season (debuting February 2nd on ABC).
That was just one bit of news revealed during the LOST panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. Here is some of what was said during the panel about the show’s finale:
“It would be great to cover my bases and guarantee a shitty ending to ‘Lost,'” executive producer Damon Lindelof said. “The worst ending we could possibly provide is the safe ending — the ending that is basically most appealing to most number of people. Yet you can’t take a risk just to take a risk because that’s a betrayal … there is certainly a hope that everybody universally loves the ending. But i don’t think it would be ‘Lost’ if there wasn’t an ongoing and active debate. If I could put on my predicting hat, there’s going to be some that think it’s the worst ending in the history of TV, and on the other end, to balance that out, would be my mom.”
“To expain it to the last little medichlorine of it would be a mistake,” said executive producer Carlton Cuse, referencing “Phantom Menace.”
