ABC has ordered a spinoff to its popular Bachelor franchise. The new series, titled Bachelor Pad, will feature former contestants living together in a Big Brother-style house. 20 contestants from the previous 13 cycles of The Bachelor and five cycles of The Bachelorette will be brought back for the show.
“All these people have been friends, been enemies, they date each other and bring all this great backstory to the show,” executive producer Martin Hilton said. “It seemed like there was an opportunity to combine that world with a new competitive reality show.”
Seven episodes have been ordered, with Bachelor host CHris Harrison on board as emcee. Although a premiere date hasn’t been set, ABC is expected to premiere the show in the late summer after after The Bachelorette finale.
