And then there was one. With Wednesday’s $6.909 million domestic gross ($33M overall worldwide), Avatar has reached $374.446 million domestically and $757.307 million overseas. That pushes the film to $1.132 billion worldwide which is now 2nd best all-time (passing ‘Return of the King”s $1.119 billion).
In the history of the box office, only Titanic ($1.843 billion) has grossed more (unadjusted for inflation). Head on over the jump to see how much closer Avatar has gotten to surpassing The Dark Knight for 2nd best domestically.

Slowly but surely, Avatar is catching up. This coming weekend will be very key to deciding how far Avatar ultimately reaches and whether or not it passes up Titanic on the domestic chart ($600.788 million). My prediction range still holds at $550-625 million.
