BBC America’s Saturday night telecast of the Doctor Who special “The End of Time, Part 2” (David Tennant’s final episode as the Doctor) averaged a record 1.015 million viewers from 8:30-10:00 p.m. for BBC America. That’s an impressive 51% increase over ‘Part 1’ on Friday (671,000) and well ahead of December’s “Waters of Mars”, which drew 803,000 viewers.
Matt Smith takes over as the 11th Doctor in the series, when the show returns with new episodes later this year for season five. Watch a preview clip featuring Matt Smith after the jump.
Not surprisingly, the British import is a good deal more popular in England. The episode drew 10.4 million viewers on BBC One.
