Mania.com is reporting that Spider-Man 4 director Sam Raimi and Sony have begun the process of casting the villains and supporting characters for the film and the site reports that Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes) has met with the producers of the film for the role of Felecia Hardy/The Black Cat. Mania also added that it’s looking likely that it’ll be a two-villain movie:
Our source also says they are casting for a male villain, but had few details. However, this would seem to discount the idea that Lizard is the primary, since the role of Dr. Conners has been cast since movie #2.
Shortly after Mania’s report, HeyUGuys confirmed that Rachel McAdams is in contention for the role, but also added that there are several actresses currently being considered. They also had some details about the character’s story arc (which appears to be slightly different than her known origin story):
We were also given a rough outline of the character’s story arc. Apparently she is the daughter of the new editor of The Daily Bugle, a man who is also referred to as ‘a viper’ (more on this in a second). She falls in love with Peter Parker, and uncovers his true identity. Her father then dies, and Hardy becomes a threat to Peter Parker (presumably as The Black Cat).
