Fox has added additional episodes to the new animated comedy The Cleveland Show, ensuring that the show will remain on the air through at least mid-2011.
The series actually already had a full-season order plus a commitment for 13 episodes in season two. This order is for the back-nine of season two, bringing the show’s order to 44 episodes. Considering the show has only aired three episodes, that’s beyond impressive:
“I’m a bit speechless,” said “Cleveland” exec producer Mike Henry, who also voices the show’s lead character. “From what I can tell, being able to build on ‘The Simpsons’ and serving up a nice base for ‘Family Guy’ to build on seems to be what they were looking for.”
The Cleveland Show is currently the highest-rated new show this season among adults 18-49 (besting such high profile hits as NCIS: Los Angeles, The Modern Family and Cougar Town).
