Adrien Brody has been tapped to star as the lead in 20th Century Fox’s Predators, playing the heroic mercenary battling Predators in the studio’s reboot of the Predator franchise. The film is being developed by producer Robert Rodriguez and will be directed by Nimrod Antal.
Brody joins Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, Walt Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, and Louiz Ozawa. Fox hopes to jump start a new franchise with the film and Brody has signed options to appear in future installments. Here is a character breakdown of Brody and the other actors’ characters:
Brody is a man who ends up inheriting the mantle of leader and is known as a hunter of men. Grace would play an accountant-type whose unassuming facade masks a dangerous serial killer. Braga is the tough female killer. Ali is a man not afraid to die, Goggins is the loose canon of the group and Taktarov is a former Russian special ops agent. Trejo, already cast, is Cuchillo, a hardened warrior with twin uzis strapped to his back.
In other casting news, Topher Grace is in negotiations to come on board the project. Predators is scheduled to begin filming in Hawaii and Austin soon, with a release set for July 9, 2010.
