Gary Ross To Write and Possibly Direct Venom

Columbia Pictures is continuing their relationship with Gary Ross.  Ross, who provided the studio with a rewrite of Spider-Man 4, has been tapped to rewrite the script for Venom and is in talks to possibly direct the project.

Sequel To National Lampoon’s Vacation In Development at New Line

New Doctor Who Logo

On Monday BBC revealed the new logo for Doctor Who, which kicks off with a brand new doctor (Matt Smith) and companion (Karen Gillan) for its fifth season next year.  Watch the video reveal of the new logo below.

Ugly Betty Debut Pushed Back to October 16th

The fourth season debut of Ugly Betty was originally scheduled to premiere this Friday, October 9th, but ABC has pushed back its premiere by a week.  The show will now premiere its fourth season with two back-to-back episodes on Friday, October 16th from 8-10:00 p.m.

Adrien Brody Cast As Lead In Predators

Adrien Brody has been tapped to star as the lead in 20th Century Fox’s Predators, playing the heroic mercenary battling Predators in the studio’s reboot of the Predator franchise.  The film is being developed by producer Robert Rodriguez and will be directed by Nimrod Antal.

U.S. Trailer for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

The film, starring Heath Ledger (in his final performance), Colin Farrell, Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Tom Waits, hits theaters December 25, 2009.

Arrested Development creator Mitchell Hurwitz is working with his co-executive producer James Vallely on a screenplay for the big screen version of the Fox comedy series.

Shutter Island Movie Trailer #2

shutterisland-100709Paramount Pictures has released the second movie trailer for the upcoming Martin Scorsese-directed film Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

The studio recently pushed back the film from October 2, 2009 to February 19, 2010.

Paranormal Activity Expanding to Full Limited Release

Paramount Pictures has announced that their horror/thriller Paranormal Activity will expand to full limited release this weekend.  The move follows an impressive launch last weekend, where the film took in more than $535,000 from 33 sites playing the film only after midnight.
