AMC has renewed their critically acclaimed and award-winning drama series Mad Men for a fourth season. The renewal comes on the heels of an impressive third season launch, with the August debut notching a record 2.76 million viewers; more than 30% above the second season premiere (2.06 million).
The series has been helped by strong word of mouth and critical praise (season two received 16 Emmy nominations), and continues to attract advertiser-friendly demos:
“You’ve seen the show grow three years in a row, and it’s been able to maintain what is the most upscale audience on television (according to Nielsen),” said AMC president-general manager Charlie Collier. “To have a distinct audience and scale it is really a unique proposition.”
AMC said that the show’s fourth season will premiere next summer.
