The first trailer for James Cameron’s sci-fi 3-D epic Avatar will make its debut via Apple.com on Thursday morning. Apple has begun promoting the debut with countdown clock on their site that is counting down to Thursday, August 20th at 7:00am.

Heath Ledger’s final film, the Terry Gilliam-directed The Imaganarium of Doctor Parnassus, has found a distributor. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquirsitions Group is in advanced talks to pick up the film and release it theatrically — likely this year — through Sony Pictures Classics.
Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell co-star.

MGM’s planned remake of Tobe Hooper’s classic 80’s horror film Poltergeist has received a release date of November 24, 2010. Vadim Perelman is attached to direct and production has been in development for some time, but there has been no information released surrounding the cast and when actual filming would begin.

Screen Gems has released both the theatrical (Green Band) and R-rated (Red Band) trailers for the upcoming post apocalyptic film Legion. Head on over the jump to watch both versions of the trailer and check out the new poster in full.

Sony Screen Gems is moving forward with a fourth film in the Underworld franchise and for this and this installment, they’re going the 3-D route. Additionally, the fourth film may be the start of a new trilogy.
