Motion-Capture Kong: King of Skull Island In the Works

kongkingofskullisland-072909Spirit Pictures is working has picked up the rights to the book Kong: King of Skull Island, a prequel to the 1933 film King Kong. Rights were made with the Merian C. Cooper family, who own the property (Cooper co-directed the 1933 original): “We’re very concerned with honoring Merian C. Cooper’s legacy in Hollywood. We want to make sure that whatever we deliver will honor his memory,” said Spirit’s Steve Iles.

The film would be made with motion-capture performance technology such as that seen in Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming A Christmas Carol.
