Syfy announced today that the Battlestar Galactica prequel series Caprica will premiere Friday, January 22, 2010 with a two-hour opener. In other news, creator Ronald Moore lashed out at the Academy’s Emmy nominations for not recognizing the final season of Battlestar Galactica in any of the non-technical categories:
“It was a fraking crime that the entire cast of ‘Battlestar’ was never recognize for the performance they gave week in and week out,” Moore shouted to rapturous applause. “We would not be here talking about the about ‘Caprica’ if not for the ensemble of actors on ‘Battlestar.'”
Another noteworthy bit of news from the Battlestar Galactica/Caprica co-panel came from star Edward James Olmos who promised fans that the upcoming DVD/TV movie ‘The Plan’ would not be the last ‘BSG’ project: “I guarantee this will not be the last movie on ‘Battlestar Galactica,'” he said. “It’s going to be so successful it will rock their pants off.”
