TBS has ordered an additional 46 episodes of the comedy series House of Payne from creator Tyler Perry. After just two seasons on the air, the episode order brings the show’s total number ordered to a huge 172 episodes.
“We have a terrific relationship with Tyler Perry, and this deal means new episodes of ‘House of Payne’ will continue to air on TBS well into the future,” said Michael Wright, head of programming for TBS, TNT and TCM. “Tyler stands alone in the entertainment business today as an entrepreneur who knows his audience.”
The series premiered on TBS in June 2007, followed by a nationally syndicated launch in September 2008. Together with another comedy from Tyler Perry, Meet the Browns, the two sitcoms rank as ad-supported cable’s top two original sitcoms of all-time among viewers, households and Adults 18-49. ‘Browns’ and ‘Payne’ average 3.2 million and 3 million viewers, respectively.
