The last recorded performance of the late singer Michael Jackson will be released in theaters this Halloween. Variety reports that Sony Pictures is in the process of finalizing a deal with AEG Entertainment to acquire concernt rehearsal footage from the singer’s “This Is It” tour and are eying an October 30th release date. The opening bid for the performance footage started at $50 million, with Sony said to have paid close to $60 million for the close to 80 hours of filmed content.
Fox, Universal, Paramount and Relativity were the other studios interested in putting in bids. The footage was actually meant to be played in 3-D, but whether that will still happen is up in the air.
