Movie and TV Casting Bites: Katee Sackhoff Joins 24, Ray Park and Robert Knepper in Heroes, Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson In Talks For A-Team + more

  • kateesackhoff-061009Katee Sackhoff, best known for her role as Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on the canceled SCI FI series Battlestar Galactica, has joined Fox’s 24.  Sackhoff will play Dana Walsh, “a smart, competent, expert data analyst at CTU with a secret past who is involved with CTU agent Davis Cole (Freddie Prinze Jr.). [THR]
  • Robert Knepper (Prison Break) has nabbed a new villainous role, this time on NBC’s Heroes.  The actor, who will appear in at least six episodes next season, will play Samuel, “a Jim Jones type — charismatic but evil, with a twisted sense of humor.” [Reuters]
  • Also joining the show will be Ray Park (Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace) and Deanne Bray.  Park may be playing the role described in the breakdowns as “Knife Thrower”, while Bray will play a deaf love interest for one of the main Heroes. Madeline Zima (Californication) was also recently added to the show’s cast. [EW]
  • Dominic Monaghan, who last week was featured in one of ABC’s “House” promos fueling speculation that he would be returning to Lost, has instead reportedly been cast in ABC’s new drama Flash Forward from co-creators Brannon Braga and David Goyer. [IGN]

  • Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) is in talks with 20th Century Fox to play Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck in Joe Carnahan’s big-screen adaptation of the 80’s TV series The A-TeamIESB originally posted this casting bit as a rumor in May. [THR]
  • Also, Liam Neeson is reportedly in negotiations with the studio to play John “Hannibal” Smith. The A-Team is scheduled to hit theaters on June 11, 2010. [Variety]
  • Kathy Bates and Tim Curry have joined the already extensive cast of SCI FI’s upcoming four-hour movie event Alice.  The miniseries is scheduled to premiere in December, 2009. [SCI FI Wire]
  • 10-year-old Korean-American actor Isaac Jin Solstein has been cast as ‘Earthbending Boy’ in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender. [LastAirbenderFilm]
  • Adam Schefter has been hired by ESPN to join the networks NFL coverage.  Schefter will join the network in mid-August — as soon as his contract with the NFL Network expires. [newsday]
