Terminator Salvation is said to be the first film in a planned trilogy, and rumors are already starting to circulate about the sequel. Bleeding Cool is reporting via their industry sources that the follow-up will be set in the modern day (2011) London:
I hear from industry sources that yet-to-be-named Terminator 5, the sequel to Terminator: Salvation, will be set in London in the year 2011, with a time-travelling John Connor (Christian Bale).
If it turns out to be true I don’t expect many to be all that surprised by this . The modern-day setting is totally believable since this has been a franchise most exclusively set in modern days. The surprise would be setting it away from the States if the London story turns out true.
WB’s Terminator Salvation has grossed a so-so $105.6 million domestically through three weekends/18 days. The film looks to be performing stronger overseas, where Sony owns the rights, taking in an impressive $67.5 million from 8,325 playdates in 70 territories over the weekend and finishing first in all but four of the territories.
