Paramount Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment have set the release date for the Steven Spielberg-directed 3D film The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. The film will be released in the US on December 23, 2011, about a month after its international release (late October/early November 2011).
The film is the first in a planned trilogy. Peter Jackson, who serves as the producer, will direct the second film, with a third film having already been announced, but it has no director yet attached.
