Donatello, Michaelangelo, Raphael and Leonardo, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, are making a live-action return to the big-screen. The Mirage Group has announced that they’re moving forward with a live-action film that will focus on the origins of the crime fighters and are targeting a 2011 release.
The project would be the fifth big-screen outing for the franchise. The last outing was 2007’s CG-animated TMNT, which grossed a respectable $95 million worldwide (its budget was just $34 million).
The news coincides with the 25th anniversary celebration, which kicks off today (Thursday) in New York where the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film will be screened at the Tribeca Film Festival.
