Variety is reporting that DirectTV has acquired the off-network rights to HBO dramas Deadwood and Oz and will air the two shows unedited, without commercials and in high definition on the 101 Network.
The pickups mark the first time either show will be run on TV outside of HBO. Both shows will air Sunday nights starting May 31, with Deadwood at 9:00pm, followed by Oz at 10:00pm.
“We are committed to bringing the highest-quality shows to our subscribers, and these are two of the most riveting dramas ever made for television,” said the 101 Network VP-general manager Patty Ishimoto.
The deal includes 36 episodes of Deadwood (three seasons: 2004-2006) and 56 episodes of Oz (six seasons: 1997-2003).
