While at ShoWest last week, director Michael Bay, who won the Vanguard Award for Excellence in Filmmaking, took some time out to discuss other things relating to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the announced sequel and 3D, which he calls “a gimmick”. - Not involved with The Birds remake.
- Isn’t considering 3D for Transformers 3 (which he says he hasn’t decided on directing yet — wants to wait to see how 2 does)
- Believes Paramount is playing “studio games” RE: the announced 2011 date for Transformers 3 as a way to keep the date away from competition
- Budget for Transformers 2 was $200 million. He came in $4 million under and they’re using the extra money on more effects
