Here are some of the latest casting hires for film and television. Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) is returning to comedy, landing the starring role in the untitled Tad Quill half-hour pilot for ABC. [THR]
Disney/Pixar’s Up will be opening the 62nd Festival de Cannes. This is the first time that an animated film, and a 3D film, will be the opening ceremony film at the festival. Production Weekly is reporting that Warner Bros’ Green Lantern will begin shooting mid-September. The comic book adaptation, to be directed by Martin Campbell, is scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2010. The lead role has yet to be cast.
AICN is reporting that Forest Whitaker has had to pull out of Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming action pic The Expendables due to conflicts with other projects.
