nelsonincrediblehulk-112508Tim Blake Nelson, who played Dr. Samuel Sterns in The Incredible Hulk, told Ain’t It Cool News that the plan is for his character to become the villain The Leader in a possible sequel:

Quint: Great well what about a potential HULK sequel? Gale Anne Hurd’s been going around talking about how you might be The Leader and the main villain of the next one.

Tim Blake Nelson: That’s the plan. That’s what they tell me, but I don’t know when that’s happening or what the details are but I am eager to do it and I hear that’s in the works. I would tell you if I knew more, but I honestly don’t.

Quint: Yeah, but you haven’t played a comic-book villain yet right?

Tim Blake Nelson: No, but I had a great time doing HULK, so if they want me for HULK 2 I’m there, it certainly was the plan going into HULK 1. When I met with them they said this is where it’s headed so I’m eager to do it.

startrekcountdown-112508IDW Publishing is teaming with Paramount Pictures, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, Kurtzman/Orci Productions and CBS Consumer Products to publish a four-issue comic book series tied to next summer’s Star Trek.  The first comic in the series, Star Trek: Countdown #1, will be released in January 2009.  The story is written by Mike Johnson (Superman/Batman) and Tim Jones, featuring art from David Messina (Star Trek: Mirror Images).  Messina will also be providing the covers for the series.  Check out a promotional image on the right hand side (click to enlarge).

“There was a lot of back and forth about doing this project, how to do it, what it would be about, but what all parties agreed on was that we needed the right story and that it needed to matter. It had to count both on its own merits and when read in conjunction with the new movie,” said series editor Andy Schmidt. “I couldn’t be happier with the project and what it means to the overall Star Trek franchise!”

“‘Star Trek: Countdown’ lays the groundwork for what happens in the movie,” said Roberto Orci. “It’s our way of passing the baton from the ‘Next Generation’ characters and their movies to the new film.”

enterprise09-111208FirstShowing.net is reporting that J.J. Abrams’  Star Trek will be released in IMAX theaters next year.  The site reports that the film will be converted to 70mm for projection on IMAX screens, since Abrams didn’t use IMAX cameras to shoot the film.  That means it’s just going to be a straight large-screen conversion, with no additional features.  That contrasts with other high-profile IMAX releases including The Dark Knight, which had a few segments shot with IMAX cameras and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which will have several minutes of bonus footage.

It’s going to be a crowded summer 2009 for IMAX.  Here’s what’s currently in store for the large screen format:

  • Star Trek (May 8, 2009)
  • Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian (May 22, 2009)
  • Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (June 26, 2009)
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (July 17, 2009)

The first programs made available in HD are NBC shows, including the latest episodes of 30 RockThe Office and Heroes.  Joss Whedon’s web-feature Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is also available to watch in high definition.  So far, only 10 full-length shows are available, and Hulu is not setting a time table as to when they may roll out more.
