Broadcast TV Ratings for Saturday, September 20, 2008

Note: Due to the unavailability of the fast nationals last week, “Last Week” numbers in this week’s report are based on the final national numbers.

Additionally, household rating/share numbers were not available for this evening.

FOX finished in first place for the evening with 5.02 million viewers and a 1.7/6 rating/share among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 3.2/6 HH rating [#3]
    • 5.14M viewers [#3]
    • 1.8/6 A18-49 rating [#2]
  • 8:00 & 8:30 p.m.: Back-to-back episodes (an original and a repeat) of Cops (4.83M viewers, 1.6/6 A18-49 rating/share) kept Fox in a solid position on the evening, posting nearly identical numbers from the week prior.
    • Last week’s numbers (Cops – 8pm):
      • Households – 3.0/6
      • Viewers – 4.62M
      • Adults 18-49 -1.6/5
    • Last week’s numbers (Cops-REPEAT8:30pm):
      • Households – 3.4/6
      • Viewers – 5.28M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.9/6
  • 9:00 p.m.: America’s Most Wanted (5.21M viewers, 1.7/5 A18-49 rating/share) drew from its lead-in, and posted the night’s highest numbers among viewers and adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 3.3/6 to x.x/x
      • Viewers – 5.33M to 5.21M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.9/6 to 1.7/5

CBS followed in second place for the evening with 4.86 million viewers, but was third among adults 18-49 with a 1.0/3 rating/share.

  • Last Week:
    • 3.9/7 HH rating [#2]
    • 5.71M viewers [#2]
    • 1.1/4 A18-49 [#t3]
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of The Unit (3.54M viewers, 0.6/2 A18-49 rating/share).
  • 9:00 p.m.: A repeat of NCIS (5.62M viewers, 1.4/4 A18-49 rating/share) ended the evening for CBS.
  • 10:00 p.m.: And a repeat of 48 Hours Mystery (5.41M viewers, 1.3/4 A18-49 rating/share) ended the evening for CBS.

ABC finished in third place for the evening with 3.72 million viewers, but managed a second place finish among adults 18-49 with a 1.3/4 rating/share.

    • 7.0/13 HH rating [#1]
    • 12.11M viewers [#1]
    • 4.7/15 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • Note: Due to the live sporting event, the following numbers, for ABC only, are based on the final national numbers.
  • 8:06-11:33 p.m:  ABC Saturday Night College Football:  Arizona State at Georgia (2.7/5 HH rating/share, 4.04M viewers, 1.4/5 A18-49 rating/share). As you can see, there’s a big difference for these football telecasts depending on who plays these games.  The game was down 7.90 million/66% among viewers and 70% among adults 18-49 from last week’s important match up between the Buckeyes and Trojans.
    • Week-to-week numbers (ABC Saturday Night College Football: Ohio State at USC – 8:08-11:21pm):
      • Households – 7.0/13 to 2.7/5
      • Viewers – 11.94M to 4.04M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.7/15 to 1.4/5

NBC followed in fourth place for the evening with 3.66 million viewers and a 0.9/3 rating/share among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 2.7/5 HH rating [#4]
    • 4.04M viewers [#4]
    • 1.1/3 A18-49 rating [#t3]
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of Chuck (2.35M viewers, 0.6/2 A18-49 rating/share).
  • 9:00 p.m.: A repeat of Law & Order: Criminal Intent (3.56M viewers, 0.8/3 A18-49 rating/share) ended the evening for NBC.
  • 10:00 p.m.: And that was followed by another repeat of Law & Order: Criminal Intent (5.05M viewers, 1.3/4 A18-49 rating/share).
