“Valkryie” Gets New Release Date + More Photos

The delay to February 13, 2009 was short-lived. MGM has announced that the release of Bryan Singer’s Valkryie, which stars Tom Cruise, is moving up to December 26, 2008. Despite the obvious awards season advantage, MGM says that they believe it will play stronger during the holiday season than it would in February. A couple new photos from the film have also been released, which you can check out after the jump.

Synopsis
At the absolute height of World War II, German generals hatch a daring plan to assassinate Adolf Hitler and effectively render the German war machine impotent. Directed by Bryan Singer (Superman Returns), Valkyrie stars Tom Cruise and was penned by writing partners Chris McQuarrie and Nathan Alexander.

While there have been several movies made about the Holocaust, the movie Valkyrie, starring Tom Cruise, will stand out as one of the best movies depicting Hitler’s regime. The audience sat spellbound and at the edge of their seats as the leading man, Tom Cruise, plotted to overthrow the unsuspecting leader of the Nazi Party. A group of men and women who were loyal to the country of Germany and not supportive of Adolf Hitler, banded together in secrecy to take over Hitler’s SS dictatorship. The audience is in on the plot and feels compelled to cheer on Tom Cruise’s character as he builds bombs, lies to top government officials, and attempts to blow up Hitler and his SS group. The tragic ending to this suspenseful story leaves the audience in tears. The entire group of loyal Germans are hanged or executed by a firing squad because they were discovered by Hitler and convicted of treason. For those movie goers who enjoy history and true stories about WWII, Valkryie is a must see.
