ABC Family’s panel at Comic-Con 2008 for The Middleman featured Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Matt Kesslar. Natalie Morales offered a recorded message that she couldn’t attend. Here are the highlights courtesy TV Squad.
- Some scenes from upcoming episodes were screened.
- The season finale is filled with the Middleman screaming profanity, complete with blackout-out bleeps.
- Asked by an audience member why the odd 10pm timeslot, Javier responded that ABC Family doesn’t believe the show jives with the rest of the programming, and that it’s a better fit later in the evening.
According to TV Squad, that’s pretty much all that was presented at the panel. Pretty disappointing.
In other news, TV Squad is reporting that the first season has been shortened from 13 episodes to 12.
Javier posted on his Live Journal site Radio Free Javi that the reason for the reduction in episodes is that though critical response has been strong and the network loves it, the ratings haven’t been all that great, adding that the decision to drop the 13th episode was a joint one between him and the network.
The Middleman airs Monday night’s at 10pm on ABC Family.
