With the quick success of Wanted, Universal Pictures is being equally fast in setting up a sequel to the $100+ million grosser. According to Variety, the studio has reupped Wanted producer Marc Platt for five years, keeping him with with the studio through late 2012. Platt has already begun work with director Timur Bekmambetov and writers Michael Brandt and Derek Haas on Wanted 2.
The writers are at work already, and those creative discussions are taking place,” said Platt.
The article notes that principal cast wasn’t locked into a sequel, so they are looking to star James McAvoy, among others, back for the sequel.
