Jon Favreau will be returning to direct the sequel to Iron Man. Though I personally didn’t think it was ever really in doubt, a while back it was being reported that Marvel was “lowballing” Favreau in their offer for him to direct a sequel. Eventually, it was learned that Marvel Studios offerered Favreau a contract that was “definitely” larger than his wage for the first film. Well, it looks like all is now well.
Here’s what Nikki Finke, who has the exclusive, posted over at her site Deadline Hollywood Daily:
It’s not officially announced yet, but I’m told that Marvel Studios and Iron Man director Jon Favreau have reached a deal for him to helm the sequel, due out in 2010. (Robert Downey Jr had a sequel clause in his contract so he’s on board.)
Iron Man 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on April 30, 2010.
