TV and Film Casting Bites: Caprica, Transformers, Heroes, Life on Mars and more

IGN is reporting that Isabel Lucas (pictured right) has been cast in the role of Alice in the sequel to Transformers.  Meanwhile, Michael Bay posted on his personal blog that “Teresa Palmer was not considered for a role”, counter to an initial report that said the actress was in negotiations for a part in the film.

Esai Morales (Jericho) has joined the cast of SCI FI Channel’s two-hour Caprica pilot.  The series is a prequel to Battlestar Galactica.  Morales will play Joseph Adama, the father of William Adama (played by Edward James Olmos in BSG). [THR]

Get ready for two more characters in the upcoming season of Heroes: According to TV Guide‘s Michael Ausiello, Brea Grant has been cast as Joy, a woman in her early twenties with the power of superspeed.  And also from TV Guide, Bruce Boxleitner (Babylon 5) was cast in a role, perhaps as a politician.  The new season of Heroes premieres on September 15th.

Tristan Wilds (The Wild) has landed the male lead in the CW’s Beverly Hills.  Michale Steger, who will play a character named Navid, has also joined the cast. [Reuters]

Ryan Seacrest in for Larry King?  Despite King only recently signing a contract extension that will keep him with CNN through 2011, sources are reporting that Seacrest is involved in “serious negotiations” to take over Larry King Live around year’s end. [MSNBC]

Producer David E. Kelley may depart the American adaptation of the British series Life on Mars.  Insiders suggest that financial considerations are playing a part in his decision to leave the show.  Until his departure is finalized, he will still control the series, which he has guided since the spring of 2006.
