It’s finally official. Variety is reporting that director Guillermo del Toro has been signed to helm both The Hobbit and its sequel. Once his current project–Hellboy II: The Golden Army–concludes, Del Toro will be moving to New Zealand for four years, where he will oversee production of the two films, alongside executive producer Peter Jackson. Del Toro will also draw upon creature and effects house WETA Workshop. The two films will be shot back-to-back.
