Broadcast TV Ratings for Friday, January 4, 2008

NBC holds off ABC and the rest of the nets to take first place for the evening among households, viewers and adults 18-49, mostly on the strength of the season premiere of 1 vs. 100. Returning shows Friday Night Lights and Las Vegas returned with numbers mostly on par with their last newly aired episodes.

NBC finished in first place for the evening with a 4.5/8 household rating/share, 7.07 million viewers and a 2.1/7 rating/share among adults 18-49.

ABC followed in second place for the evening with a 4.4/7 household rating/share and 6.38 million viewers, and was involved in a three-way tie for third among adults 18-49 with a 1.6/5 rating/share.

  • 8:00 p.m: A repeat of Grey’s Anatomy (2.8/5 HH rating/share, 3.86M viewers, 1.0/3 A18-49 rating/share).
  • 9:00 p.m.: That was followed by a new episode of Women’s Murder Club (5.2/9 HH rating/share, 7.68M viewers, 1.8/5 A18-49 rating/share).
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (December 7, 2007):
      • Households – 5.7/10 to 5.2/9
      • Viewers – 8.54M to 7.68M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.8/5 to 1.8/5
  • 10:00 p.m.: And lastly, an original episode of 20/20 (5.2/9 HH rating/share, 7.60M viewers, 2.1/7 A18-49 rating/share) ended the evening for ABC. Yes, it’s safe to assume that 20/20 performs significantly better when it doesn’t have a repeat as its lead-in. The show posted growth of 2.18 million or 40% among viewers, 44% among households and 40% among adults 18-49.

      • Adults 18-49 – 1.5/5 to 2.1/7

CBS finished in third place for the evening with a 3.9/7 household rating/share, was fourth among viewers with 6.00 million, and tied for third place among adults 18-49 with a 1.6/5 rating/share.

  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of Ghost Whisperer (4.4/8 HH rating/share, 6.77M viewers, 1.9/6 A18-49 rating/share).
  • 9:00 p.m.: That was followed by a repeat of Moonlight (2.8/6 HH rating/share, 5.09M viewers, 1.4/4 A18-49 rating/share).
  • 10:00 p.m.: And lastly, CBS ended the evening with a repeat of Numb3rs (4.0/7 HH rating/share, 6.14M viewers, 1.6/5 A18-49 rating/share) ended the evening for CBS.

FOX followed in fourth place for the evening with a 3.9/6 household rating/share and 6.08 million viewers, but finished in a stronger position among adults 18-49 where it was in second place for the evening with a 2.0/6 rating/share.

  • 9:00 p.m.: And that was followed by a repeat of House (3.2/6 HH rating/share, 6.53M viewers, 2.3/7 A18-49 rating/share).
    • Last week’s numbers (Film – Bruce Almighty-REPEAT):
      • Households – 3.2/6
      • Viewers – 5.20M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.8/6

The CW finished in fifth place for the evening with a 2.8/5 household rating/share and 4.07 million viewers, but was a little stronger among adults 18-49, where it tied for third place with a 1.6/5 rating/share.
