Paramount and Showtime have worked out a deal that will have Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull making its pay TV debut on the network.
The placement of the film on the network was in question recently, because it wasn’t clear that the two sides would renew their contract which expires on December 31. The film is one of the bigger Paramount titles that Showtime is negotiating to purchase as part of a new renewal of the current deal.
Showtime currently only has deals in place for theatrical titles from Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate.
The holdout on renewal of the contract likely has to do with the network having the exclusive pay TV rights to all of Paramount’s movies released on 2007. With the current deal, the network will have plenty of content to fill their schedule through at least the first part of 2009.
