Disney Pursuing Clone Wars?

Animation Magazine is reporting from their insiders that Disney is heavily engaged in trying to get the broadcast rights to the highly anticipated CG-animated series Clone Wars, from George Lucas.

The series is expected to be ready by the fall of 2008.  Prior information has it that each episode will be 22-minutes long and that the series will follow Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.  Lucas has plans to produce at least 100 episodes of the cartoon, with Lucas and producer Catherine Winder overseeing the development of the scripts with various episode writers.

The CG cartoon series is just the first of two planned television series based on the Star Wars universe.  Lucas is also developing a live-action series that will take place between Episode 3 and Episode 4.  That series won’t be ready until the fall of 2009.Source: Animation Magazine (via SCI FI Wire
