Holdovers held off the new releases this weekend, with the top three paced by Superbad, which remained in first place for the second weekend. The hilarious comedy took in $18.04 million from 2,948 theaters (down 45.4%) and has grossed $68.62 million through 10 days of release. That’s more than three times the film’s budget ($20 million).
Superbad is the first film since Pirates of the Caribbean to hold the top spot for two weeks in a row.
Second place went to The Bourne Ultimatum. ‘Bourne’ continues to perform exceptionally well, dipping only 37.2% and improving one spot with $12.47 million from 3,778 theaters.
Year-to-year the top 10 box office was up by 10.3%.
