Variety is reporting that Fox is in the planning stages of remaking the classic 1966 science fiction film Fantastic Voyage and they’ve hired director Roland Emmerich (Independence Day and Day After Tomorrow) direct it.
The site adds that Marianne and Cormac Wibberly (writers of National Treasure) are in talks with the studio to write the script.
This is actually Emmerich’s attempt at remaking the classic, after being attached a decade ago. The remake is said to have been resurrected after the Wibberley’s submitted a draft that caught the attention of Emmerich.Emmerich’s recent work can been seen next year, when 10,000 B.C. is released by Warner Bros. and Legendary (March 7, 2008).
