Broadcast TV Ratings for Wednesday, August 15, 2007

Fox and CBS shared leadership on Wednesday, with the networks tying for first among households, though Fox came away on top among viewers and adults 18-49.

Fox finished in a tie for first place on the evening with a 5.4/10 household rating/share, but was alone in first among viewers (8.50 million) and among adults 18-49 (3.2/10 rating/share).

  • Last Week:

    • Viewers – 8.20M [#2]
    • Adults 18-49 – 3.0/10 [#1]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Part one of the two-part season finale for So You Think You Can Dance? (5.4/10 HH rating/share, 8.50M viewers, 3.2/10 A18-49 rating/share), which was a half-hour longer than usual, did very well for Fox. The series not only gave Fox a win for the evening across the board, but posted nice increases from the week prior (+870,000 or +11% among viewers, +15% among households and +14% among adults 18-49).
    • Week-to-week numbers (fast nationals – 8:00-9:30 p.m.):
      • Households – 4.7/9 to 5.4/10
      • Viewers – 7.63M to 8.50M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.8/10 to 3.2/10

      • Households – 5.4/9
      • Viewers – 8.78M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.2/10

CBS followed in a tie for first place on the evening with a 5.4/10 household rating/share, was second among viewers with 8.01 million, and third among adults 18-49 with a 2.0/6 rating/share.

    • Viewers – 8.37M [#1]
    • Adults 18-49 – 2.2/7 [#3]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Good news for CBS, though Power of 10 (5.2/10 HH rating/share, 7.73M viewers, 2.0/7 A18-49 rating/share) was off from its series premiere, it held on nicely from last week’s time slot premiere, posting nearly identical numbers from the week prior.
    • Week-to-week numbers (time slot premiere):
      • Households – 5.2/10 to 5.2/10
      • Viewers – 7.83M to 7.73M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.0/7 to 2.0/7
  • 9:00 p.m.: A repeat of Criminal Minds (5.5/9 HH rating/share, 8.15M viewers, 2.0/6 A18-49 rating/share).
  • 10:00 p.m.: And lastly, a repeat of CSI: NY (5.7/10 HH rating/share, 8.13M viewers, 2.1/6 A18-49 rating/share).

NBC finished in third place on the evening with a 3.9/7 household rating/share and 6.08 million viewers, but managed a second place finish among adults 18-49 with a 2.2/7 rating/share.

    • Viewers – 6.18M [#3]
    • A18-49 – 2.3/7 [#2]
  • 8:00 p.m: A repeat of Most Outrageous Moments (3.8/7 HH rating/share, 5.96M viewers, 1.9/6 A18-49 rating/share).
  • 9:00 p.m.: Last Comic Standing (3.6/6 HH rating/share, 5.89M viewers, 2.5/7 A18-49 rating/share) was off very slightly from the week prior, with ratings mostly even.
    • Week-to-week numbers (fast nationals):
      • Households – 3.7/6 to 3.6/6
      • Viewers – 5.96M to 5.89M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.6/8 to 2.5/7
  • 10:00 p.m.: Dateline (4.4/8 HH rating, 6.57M viewers, 2.2/7 A18-49 rating), like its lead-in, also stayed relatively even from the week prior.
    • Week-to-week numbers (fast nationals):
      • Households – 4.4/8 to 4.4/8
      • Viewers – 6.63M to 6.57M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.4/8 to 2.2/7

ABC followed in fourth place for the evening with a 2.8/5 household rating/share, 4.02 million viewers and a 1.5/5 rating/share among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • Households – 1.8/3 [#4]
    • Viewers – 2.44M [#4]
    • A18-49 – 0.8/3 [#4]
  • As noted in this news article, ABC pulled the remaining episodes of Knights of Prosperity and The Nine. The results were much stronger from the week prior.
  • 8:00 & 8:30 p.m.: Back-to-back repeats of According to Jim (2.8/5 HH rating/share, 3.93M viewers, 1.4/5 A18-49 rating/share).
    • Last week’s numbers (fast nationals – 8:30 p.m. — Knights of Prosperity):
      • Households – 1.8/3
      • Viewers – 2.31M
      • Adults 18-49 – 0.7/2
  • 9:00 p.m.: Primetime: The Outsiders (3.4/6 HH rating/share, 4.93M viewers, 1.8/5 A18-49 rating/share) did a good job replacing the repeat of According to Jim and the new episode of The Knights of Prosperity which aired last week, growing by more than 100% in each category.
    • Last week’s numbers (fast nationals – 9:30 p.m. – Knights of Prosperity):
      • Households – 1.5/3
      • Viewers – 2.08M
      • Adults 18-49 – 0.8/2
  • 10:00 p.m.: The series premiere of NASCAR in Primetime (2.1/4 HH rating/share, 1.93M viewers, 0.7/2 A18-49 rating/share) didn’t fare nearly as well as ‘Primetime’, nor much better than last week’s poor results from The Nine when looking at adults 18-49.
    • Last week’s numbers (fast nationals – The Nine):
      • Households – 1.5/3
      • Viewers – 1.93M
      • Adults 18-49 – 0.7/2

The CW finished in fifth place for the evening with a 1.1/2 household rating/share, 1.59 million viewers and a 0.6/2 rating/share among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • Households – 1.1/2 [#5]
    • Viewers – 1.47M [#5]
    • Adults 18-49 – 0.6/2 [#5]
  • Back-to-back repeats of America’s Next Top Model, performed mostly identical to last week, with slight gains.
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of America’s Next Top Model (1.0/2 HH rating/share, 1.50M viewers, 0.6/2 A18-49 rating/share).
  • 9:00 p.m.: And that was followed by another repeat of America’s Next Top Model (1.2/2 HH rating/share, 1.69M viewers, 0.6/2 A18-49 rating/share).
