HBO is getting back together with Alan Ball, creator of the hit Six Feet Under. The network has officially picked up the vampire series True Blood, which Ball will executive produce and act as showrunner for.
True Blood is based on the Charlaine Harris Souther Vampire novel series. An airdate and pickup order are still being ironed out, but production is expected to begin this fall.
Ball started working on the project in October 2005, but it was pushed into this year, with the pilot being shot earlier this summer with stars Anna Paquin, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell, Stephen Moyer, Brook Kerr, Carrie Preston and Michael Raymond-James.
